Puppetry - (6th)

We created puppets to dramatize the story, "The Little Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly." I had to write this play so every student had a puppet part. We performed for kindergarten and first grade classes. The actors read their parts like a Reader's Theater as they hid behind turned over tables. The puppets were held high above the tables.
The students chose between two styles of puppets: sock or pop up. These basic models were easy to work with. No sewing involved, just plenty of hot gluing. You find out some students have trouble animating their voice despite being hidden from the audience.
After the drama was done, the sixth grade teachers utilized the puppets in their literature project.
